Location: Onsite – 53 Northorpe Lane, Mirfield, WF14 0QL
Please note hours will be annualised and you may work more hours per week during wedding season and less out of season.
A bit about The Northorpe Barn and Northorpe Hall Child & Family Trust
The Northorpe Barn is a part of Northorpe Hall Child & Family Trust, a charity based in Kirklees, West Yorkshire with a commitment to working with and supporting children and young people under the age of 25 who are facing disadvantage in their lives.
A large part of the Charity’s work involves supporting the mental and emotional health of children and young people including supporting families where this will positively impact on young people’s mental health and well-being.
Northorpe Hall delivers support, services, activities and events from beautiful buildings and grounds in Mirfield. The site provides safe and therapeutic spaces which promote wellbeing as well as hosting weddings and events in the Northorpe Barn.
Hosting Weddings and Events at the Northorpe directly benefits the charity as all profits we generate helps to support, improve and transform the lives of children and young people.
The role
The Northorpe Barn is looking for a Wedding & Events Co-Ordinator to join our existing team.
We are a beautiful 17th Century barn hosting Weddings and Events throughout the year. Weddings are the most important part of our business and bring in much needed revenue to Northorpe Hall Child and Charity trust. We are looking for a hard working, enthusiastic, passionate & experienced co-ordinator to join the existing team and help us with our ever growing business.
Key responsibilities
You will be responsible for events of up to 130 guests. Duties will include:
•Handling and managing inbound wedding enquiries, face to face and on-line
•Converting enquiries into confirmed bookings, enhancing barn opportunities and sales & revenue
•Planning and implementation of events, producing detailed plans, staff rota’s and order of the day details to suppliers and 3rd parties
•Setting up and breaking down the barn in line with the event requirements (includes lifting furniture in and out of storage and laying tables etc)
•Co-ordinating every last detail, working with the couple, the guests, suppliers and all areas involved to deliver the perfect day for everyone involved
•Being the key point of contact throughout the event including being in charge on the day
•Master of Ceremony duties (if required)
•Some basic food preparation
•Maintaining and managing relationships with all suppliers, casual staff, 3rd parties & Northorpe Hall staff
•Budgeting tasks including finalising & issuing invoices
•Key holder responsibility, opening and closing the barn, following standard procedures
•Assessing the success of an event and highlighting areas for improvement
•Providing support and expertise at other events run by Northorpe Hall Child and Family Trust
About you
We are looking for a can do, proactive, energetic person with experience in a similar role and a background in planning & managing events, as well as experience in providing high standards of service and working collaboratively within a team. Much of the role is practical and physically demanding, applicants will need to be physically fit and able to move furniture and take part in food service.
Experience/Skills/Abilities
• A background in customer service
• Passionate and enthusiastic about running events
• Excellent decision making skills and the ability to work under pressure
• Excellent communication skills with an ability to communicate in a clear, professional friendly way with colleagues and all visitors to the barn
• Demonstrate good people skills with people of all backgrounds booking events in the barn
• A ‘can do’ attitude, willing to get involved in all areas of organising and managing an event
• Resilient and confident in responding to the demands of the role and the ability to work independently, with little supervision
• An outgoing, engaging & positive personality
• Enthusiastic, self-motivated and supportive of the aims of the charity
